Paper Cups Are Now Recyclable

The City of Newburyport is pleased to announce that paper cups — including coffee cups and other paper-based beverage containers — are now accepted in your curbside recycling bin.

What This Means for Residents

Starting immediately, residents can place clean paper cups in their recycling bins alongside other accepted paper products. This change applies to:

• Coffee cups (paper-based)
• Paper beverage cups from restaurants
• Paper soup cups

Tips for Recycling Cups

• Please empty cups of any remaining liquid before placing in the bin
• Remove plastic lids and recycle them separately
• No need to remove paper sleeves
